This guide is an attempt at dictating what makes good posts, and what makes bad posts
on SeventhCycle.net. Of course, it is the moderator's job to vote up / down what he/she
sees as either a good or a bad post. This is the criteria for determining that.
Good Posts
The point of the BBS is to be a place to share intelligent conversation in a medium
that is fun and drama free. While it's impossible for things to run smoothly ALL
the time, the point of the Karma system is to encourage people to post their opinions on
things. Leveling up on this site depends on just that: contribution.
Good posts are:
Posts that question, or as for an opinion on an intelligent matter. Some of the posts on
the political forum address anything from Private School to the California Recall. These
posts are excellent since they open up the board to discussion worthy of being read.
Posts that are thought out / expressive. If the person puts a decent amount of time
into making a post, this should typically be rewarded. This is, of course, if the
post doesn't fall under the realm of being flamebait, offtopic, or dramatic.
Bad Posts
Some posts don't contribute to this site whatsoever. These will be moderated down, in hopes of
avoiding them.
Bad posts are:
Fully Offtopic posts. Since the board is linear, it's very much possible that the
thread can turn offtopic. A bad post is when someone responds to a legitimate post
in an entirely irrelevant manner, throwing the conversation awry.
Drug talk. This is simply not the place. Go to Alt Lifestyles on Sillygoth.
Irrelevant posts. SeventhCycle.net is not meant to be "kiddy".
Example. This will be locked.
Inflammatory posts. SeventhCycle.net is not meant to be a drama based board.
Posts that do so will be modded down, and the person's ability to post may be temporarily
suspended. This is not SillyGoth. This is not LiveJournal. Deal with it.
More to come in the future.
*READ ME*
Do you have posts that you think should be moderated up, but aren't getting attention?
I'm in the process of making a system for users to submit links they think are worthy
of getting voted up, but it's still in development. For now, SEND these links to me. I'll review them
and mod
them up if I see the conversation fit.
